Here, in this first phase of federation, you can file a request for your self-hosted PDS to be crawled and added to the production federated network. This is an early access phase as federation rolls out. In the next phase, you will not need to file a request through Bluesky.
In this early access phase:
- The PDS distribution will have breaking changes. We will provide migration paths, but we do not promise backwards compatibility. We will send out notices in this channel and via a mailing list (which you’ll be added to when you provide your contact email in your PDS request) to upgrade your PDS distribution before breaking changes roll out.
- The Bluesky Relay will ratelimit PDSs in the network. Each PDS will be able to have up to 10 accounts, and produce up to 1500 events/hr and 10,000 events/day. This phase of federation is intended for developers and self-hosters, and we do not yet support larger service providers.
- Account migration is enabled, but we recommend that you do not migrate your main account yet and treat this as an experimental phase! However, if you do choose to do so, please make sure to back up your repo/identity.
