All the classmates who attended middle school in Xi’an know that back then, during winter there were often days‑long, even week‑long, record‑breaking air pollution, and school was cancelled every day. After the remediation, things have improved a lot, and such extreme pollution hasn’t occurred again. However, Xi’an’s average annual air quality remains poor, such as spring dust storms, summer dust before rain, and winter smog. I think these are related to larger factors like geography, climate, ecology, and industrial structure, and are not easily improved.
After staying in Xi’an for a long time, going to places like the Fujian coast, Japan, Europe, or the Americas still amazes me with their clear blue skies and white clouds.
