Is there any difference between a professional master’s and an academic master’s? 
Professional master’s programs cost about 5 k more in tuition than academic master’s programs. In some schools, the graduation requirements for professional and academic master’s degrees differ. When transferring to a PhD, I’ve heard that professional master’s programs are somewhat different from academic ones, but you can still transfer; it mainly depends on whether the advisor has an available slot.
