Currently my understanding is that to get into major game companies, such as Tencent, NetEase, miHoYo, etc., but I see that the autumn recruitment hasn’t come to our school, so I want to ask if there are any ways to enter these companies. I am still a freshman, my mind is blank, seeking guidance.
Huh? Aren’t they coming to XJTU for recruitment? ![]()

Ask about the major?
Tencent has visited XJTU, but they usually come in the spring to promote internships, and they give a presentation in a separate classroom, not combined with the outdoor stalls.
miHoYo also held a presentation in Xi’an; they may not have come to XJTU, it was held at a hotel, it was pretty good, and if you’re an mhy player you would like it.
The three major areas of game development: for art, I guess you’re not an art student; for design, the education requirements are high; I think XJTU compared to miHoYo and NetEase might be at a disadvantage. Programming might be a bit easier, similar to traditional internet categories: client, backend, testing, data, etc. I suggest you study hard, do more internships, and strive to fit the job requirements.
You can join some game jams and other creation contests, but the most important thing seems to be finding like‑minded people and forming a team. Just as a band needs a vocalist, guitarist, bassist, and drummer, a game development team also needs at least three roles: planner, programmer, and artist.
Check out itch.io, a relatively well‑known indie game publishing site.
My major is software engineering, okay, thank you very much.
