After a Japanese elementary school student was stabbed in Shenzhen, many people talked about domestic anti‑Japanese propaganda dramas stoking anti‑Japanese sentiment. Of course that is an important reason, but I think there is another important reason.

What a huge amount of reading. It seems I have read relatively few works that depict the brutality of war, and the best among them is the Tsarist Russian book “Red Cavalry,” but to be honest, I didn’t feel much after reading it; it’s too far removed from lived experience.

Actually, I rarely read war literature; movies have a stronger expressive impact and also take less time.

Previously, I went to Yan’an for a social practice. On the high-speed train I chatted with a middle‑aged man from Baoji sitting next to me, and I also finished reading a book called War Dirge, written by a Vietnamese author about the Vietnam War. It made people cry on the train.
