It is recommended to join a club for related knowledge learning, provided that you intend to compete in control-type contests. If you want to compete in hardware circuit design contests, you can contact some teachers in the Telecommunications Department in advance; they lead the major electronics competition.
I remember that the electrical competition you entered had unified training, and I participated back then during the second semester of my sophomore year. You can consult your circuit class teacher for details
