What to do? | A diary tower that wants others to know (Part 3: Enjoying Summer Vacation – Painful School)

Quanzhou Guide

Attractions:

Actually visited attractions (with pictures and descriptions):
China Min-Tai Relationship Museum (half a day needed, free morning guided tour, permanent exhibition is very rich)

Quanzhou Overseas Transportation History Museum (free guided tour available)
Quanzhou Islamic Culture Exhibition Hall (near the Overseas Transportation Museum)
The collections are not especially extensive; these two museums together can be explored in half a day

Chengtian Temple
A very quiet temple with few visitors; it houses several Song‑dynasty stone pagodas and the incarnation site of Master Hongyi

Kaiyuan Temple
Both the West and East Pagodas have long histories, apparently from the Song period; behind the Mahavira Hall there are Hindu stone columns

Quanzhou Prefecture Confucian Temple & Academy

Qingjing Mosque
Ticket 3 CNY. Some online comments say it’s not worth entering, but I think it’s worth a visit.

Tianhou Temple

Deji Gate Ruins (in front of Tianhou Temple)

Attractions not visited this time:
Quanzhou Museum (closed)
City Customs Office Ruins (very small, seems to close for a midday break)
Li Zhi Former Residence (close to Tianhou Temple but tiny, and it was too hot in the afternoon)
Luoyang Bridge
Nanwai Zongzheng Office Ruins Exhibition Hall
I’m not sure if all these outdoor sites can be covered in one day.

Notes:

  1. Quanzhou Overseas Transportation History Museum and Quanzhou Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum are close to each other (about 700 m). China Min‑Tai Relationship Museum and Quanzhou City Museum are also near each other (about 500 m).
  2. Within the Quanzhou Old City area, the recommended transport is the “Xiaobai Car” – very convenient.
